1. Who is responsible
The controller under the GDPR is:
Arnold Abraham
Anderlohrstr. 15
91054 Erlangen
Email: genaujobs@gmail.com
2. In short
- You can search and read jobs without an account and without giving us any personal data.
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no social media plugins, no external fonts or scripts.
- Only two cookies, both needed for functions you choose: staying logged in, and the "English" switch.
- An account (email and password) is optional and only used for your job tracker. You can download or delete it at any time.
3. Visiting the website
The site runs on a server of Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (38 Avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. To deliver pages, your browser's IP address and request details are processed for the duration of the connection. We do not keep access logs with IP addresses; the application's technical logs record requests without your IP address and are rotated automatically. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (operating a secure website). AWS processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
4. Cookies
| Name | Purpose | When | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| gj_session | Keeps you logged in (a random token; only its hash is stored on the server) | Only after you log in | 30 days or until you log out |
| jb_lang | Remembers the "English" switch for German job ads | Only after you use the switch | 1 year |
Both are strictly necessary for a function you asked for, so no consent is needed (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). The "Translate to English" button first uses your browser's built-in translation, which runs on your device.
5. Your account
If you create an account, we store your email address, your password as a one-way hash (scrypt), when you signed up and last logged in, your login sessions, and the jobs you track with their status and your notes. We use this only to provide the account and the job tracker. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (the service you signed up for).
Sign-up and password reset send you an email through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, region Frankfurt). The email contains a one-time link; the link expires after 48 hours (sign-up) or 1 hour (password reset).
Retention: until you delete your account. On the account page you can download your data as a CSV file and delete the account; deletion removes your email, sessions, tracked jobs and notes immediately. Database backups on the same server are kept for up to 14 days and then deleted.
6. Job ads and data of third parties
Job ads are collected from public sources: the job board of the Bundesagentur für Arbeit and employers' own careers sites and applicant tracking systems. Ads can contain names of contact persons; we remove contact names, email addresses and phone numbers where we detect them before storing the ad and link to the original ad for applying. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (helping job seekers find published job ads). If you appear in an ad and object to it being shown, write to us and we will remove it.
For some German ads you can request an English translation on our server. Only the ad's text is sent to Anthropic PBC (USA), the provider of the translation model; no data about you is sent.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). Write to the email address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one in the federal state where you live or where we are based.
8. Changes
We update this policy when the site changes. The current version is always on this page.
